This past week we got a lot accomplished. The new Rimol seedling house is all finished. Fixed a lot of drainage problems. Planted 750 onions in half the orchard; Sierra Blanca, Patterson, and Redwing varieties. Began mulching the walkways, with the help of Daisy! Poured a foundation for a small farm stand in the parking lot. Sowed a peas and oats cover crop in the newest garden beds and the kids planted a few sugar snap peas in the orchard.
Phillip took advantage of the clear night sky, he’s managed to capture several photos of galaxies and nebulas. He’s learned a lot in the last month about the telescope and working towards making it of remote use. You can check out his images in the Observatory section of our website. His advancement makes him want the larger telescope. We ventured to New Hampshire this week to check out a company that 3D prints concrete buildings. We are considering using them for the construction of the Observatory building.
This next week is going to be another one with a lot of tasks to try and accomplish. Spring has surly sprung! We will continue mulching and weeding the rows. Sowing lots of seeds; arugula, beets, brassicas, lettuce, parsley, peas, radish, and spinach. We will be picking up 15,000 strawberry plants on Wednesday from Norse Farm; Sunset, Sparkle, and Darselect. Will get to planting them Thursday!
This weeks volunteer opportunities can be found on our calendar. Community farm on Thursday and Sunday from 2:00-4:00. I’ve also added volunteer hours for Tuesday and and Sunday mornings 10:00-12:00. Please let me know if you will be joining us.
Lastly, we would like to open up the deck as a rentable event space. If you or someone you know needs a space for a special occasion please reach out.
